Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting activities related to the design, modification, and fabrication of custom automotive shipping racks and related material handling equipment.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and production teams to organize and direct project activities
Define project goals, performance standards, and timelines in alignment with customer requirements and company standards
Monitor and guide projects through the full lifecycle to ensure timely delivery and budget adherence
Attend project kick-off, strategy, and progress meetings
Review customer purchase orders and compare to project scope—ensure alignment with what was sold
Communicate effectively with clients to confirm specifications and manage expectations
Track production schedules and order fulfillment using internal ERP systems
Identify and follow up on open items, change orders, and outstanding costs
Prepare and maintain project documentation, internal reports, and inspection summaries
Provide updates to leadership and customers on project milestones and deliverables
Support quality control efforts and resolve any customer concerns post-delivery
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Project Manager role
Experience in automotive, fabrication, or material handling industries preferred
Working knowledge of manufacturing and production workflows
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
Strong organizational and detail-oriented mindset
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Clear and professional communication abilities (written and verbal)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment
Some physical exertion required

Some heavy lifting and movement of equipment may be required

Help with loading/unloading materials and finished products

Welding Technician
Frankenmuth Industrial Services (FIS), a leader in custom automotive shipping racks and material handling solutions, is currently seeking a Welding Technician to join our manufacturing team in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
Reports to:
Operations Manager
Supervises:
None
Status:
Exempt
The Welding Technician is responsible for performing weld preparation, fabrication, and weld finishing operations to support the production of custom steel shipping racks. This position requires interpreting design drawings and producing parts that meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
Set up work areas and create fixtures for GMAW, SMAW, and robotic GMAW welding applications
Program robotic welders and build supporting fixtures for automated welding processes
Interpret technical drawings and apply welding symbology appropriately
Maintain a clean and safe welding area, following all safety and quality procedures
Detect and report defective materials or deviations to supervisors
Conduct preventive maintenance on welding equipment and tools
Perform routine welds and fabrication tasks throughout the welding and production facility
Support production deadlines while maintaining craftsmanship and structural integrity
Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
At least 5 years of hands-on welding experience in various applications
Robotic welding experience preferred but not required
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld specifications
Familiarity with fixturing, weld setup, and quality control standards
Knowledge of wire types, filler metals, and alloy compatibility (steel, aluminum, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Highly motivated and adaptable to changing work priorities
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently
